Are my Parents Too Strict?

My parents are very strict about school. They're obsessed with telling me that they'll give me stuff if I get on the honor roll. I mean, what does the honor roll matter/ All it is is getting to see your name in the paper. Also, if I get just ONE late assignment, I lose a day of computer, yet I get no rewards for going without late assignments. If I get 100% on a late assignment, it's still a B Tell me what you think about their strictness.

Umm, honestly; they care about your future and want you to do good, when going without a late assignment should just be your responsibility anyway.

Their ways are strict though, they should make it so it's like "For every three late assignments you get, you lost a day of computer" That way it is a little bit more fair for both of you.

What kind of stuff will they give you? Because just maybe it's worth it to work hard (enough) to get that stuff. As for me, my dad promised me an iPhone if I kept my grades straight A's until the end of the year.

I agree with King B Dude on all of that stuff, but I also think that they need to take a Chill Pill and not be AS strict about late assignments. I'm pretty sure that they take away your Comp. so that you can turn in the assignment in on-time, but still... whats a few late assignments.

My parents are almost the opposite of strict. If I get straight A's they give me money to go spend on video games & stuff.

They only get mad when something bad happens. -One of my friends came over to play basketball last week, and he knocked this huge board onto the hoop while trying to do a reverse-lay up. The hoop crashed into my older brothers new car. Presto, there came the strictness... I cant have friends over untill July now......

Try being homeschooled . Strict has a whole new meaning.

I mainly just don't see why they want me to be on the honor roll so much.

Mabe they want you to get honor roll so they will feel proud that your on there, because honor roll shows that you work hard.

They are a bit too strict, but maybe they feel that they need to be though. They care about you and want you to have a succsesful life for yourself. That can only come from hard work, and dedication. I know this may seem unfair of them, but just humor them and if you continue to get honor roll, they may let loose a little.

p.s.- Honor Roll looks fantastic on college applications and can help you gain a better chance of being chosen over someone else.

Well your parents, like mine, just have high expectations. They want you to do well and have a bright future. They offer you rewards because it will give you something to work for rather than nothing.

They take away computer time b/c they think it distracts you from school work so you can focus.

Parents having high expectations may be annoying some times, but I'm guessing it's for the best in the long run.

But I'm only in middle school! Of course I'll try my best to get straight A's in highschool, but they barely even check your middle school stuff when you're applying for college. Plus, the thing I hate about the honor roll is that I get good grades in the important things, like math, literature, language arts, and F/CE, but the bad grades in things like Social Studies or other things bring me down. Also, if you get exactly 90% on every assignment and test of the quarter, you still won't get on the honor roll, which is bogus in my opinion.

That does sound like crap. Maybe it would be more accurate to blame the school and not your parents? Just so you know they will look at your middle school grades in the weeding out process, if it comes down to it.

I just hate it how scores are represented with grades. I'm regarded as one of the smarter kids in class by teachers and students, but my grades do not represent so. The current system doesn't truly represent how smart someone is.

Like me. I'm smart enough to get straight A+'s but I'm just too freaking lazy to do some of it...

like me.... I do ALL my classwork and get 100% on ALL my assignments, however I get B's in school cause I dont do my home work

I am also smart enough to get 110% in every class, but 1 out of every quarter I get a B+ and 2 out of every quarter I get an A-

In high school there's no such thing as a late assignment. Lol.

I'm sure they're just trying to encourage you to do well in school....but just ask them to calm down a bit...that's what I would do.
